Craig-na-Hullie House in beautiful Strathdon in Upper Donside is the perfect base for exploring the Cairngorm National Park, which has some of the highest mountains in Scotland and areas of ancient Caledonian Pine Forest with populations of rare birds like the Capercaillie and Ptarmigan. There are many outdoor activities available in the area including fishing, golf, hillwalking, climbing, skiing and mountain biking.

Craig-na-Hullie is also ideal for touring the Castle and Whisky Trails and there are many highland Games held in the area during the summer including the atmospheric Lonach Gathering in August and the world famous Braemar Gathering in early September. Balmoral Castle and Royal Deeside are a mere half hour drive away.

For art lovers there are several galleries to visit in the area. The Lost Gallery shows some of the best in contemporary work including painting, sculpture and photography as well as work by Gallery owner Peter Goodfellow. It is situated in an idyllic setting at the top of Glen Nochty. The Knock Gallery on the road to Crathie from Gairnshiel is also worth a visit to see the paintings and some fabulous amber jewellery.
